NetFest will be back on the Gold Coast in 2017, with this year’s event taking place from the 12th-15thOctober.

In 2017, NetFest will enter its seventh year of operation and is set to be bigger and better, with competitions including beach netball, traditional outdoor netball and the inclusion of Fast5 Netball.

NetFest will again be delivered in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ), with the 2017 event bringing on board Suncorp and Samsung as official partners.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events Kate Jones said the event attracted thousands of competitors from across Australia and New Zealand.

“It’s great to see NetFest growing every year and I encourage players to start planning their trip to the Gold Coast in 2017,” Ms Jones.

“Events such as this provide a valuable boost to the Gold Coast economy, increase visitor nights to the region and showcase Queensland as a vibrant and exciting destination for major events.

“Every year thousands of players travel to the Gold Coast to compete at NetFest and I look forward to seeing the event deliver another fantastic tournament in 2017.”

Netball Australia, Acting CEO Marne Fechner is excited to see NetFest rolled out once again in 2017, in what will be a huge year of netball in Australia.

“NetFest is one of the biggest netball participation events in the country and we are once again thrilled to hold the event on the Gold Coast,” Fechner said.

“2017 will be a busy but exciting year in netball in the country, and NetFest provides a great opportunity for players from around Australia and New Zealand to come together for a weekend of fun.”

In 2016 NetFest attracted more than 2,500 competitors across the traditional outdoor and beach netball competitions. 2017 will see further growth, through the introduction of Fast5 Netball on the Thursday and Friday night of the four-day event.

“We are excited to see Fast5 rolled out at NetFest, offering this new format of competition will ensure further expansion of the event and will also provide a great opportunity for Gold Coast locals to get involved,” said Fechner.

NetFest is proudly supported by the Queensland Government through TEQ’s It’s Live! in Queensland major events calendar.
